JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) has announced the weekly award winners for Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer and Volleyball for Monday, August 31.
MEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Luis Vera Mayorca, Queens
Luis Vera Mayorca was named Player of the Week after recording one goal and two points in the Royal home match over the weekend against Wofford. Vera Mayorca leads the Royals with two goals this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Tate McCrery, Bellarmine
Tate McCrery was named Defensive Player of the Week. He helped Bellarmine secure a 2-1 victory against Northern Kentucky by limiting them to just three shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Merrick Cook, Central Arkansas
Merrick Cook was named Goalkeeper of the Week after earning a shutout victory against Belmont. He recorded a season-high seven saves in the matchup.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Annalise Cannada, Lipscomb & Kaitlyn Herb, West Florida
Annalise Cannada earned the Player of the Week accolade after recording one goal, two points and four shots, three of which were on goal in the Bisons' pair of draws over the weekend against Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee. Kaitlyn Herb scored the first Division I goal for West Florida in the first 18 seconds of their match against McNeese State. She recorded three shots and one goal to be named Player of the Week.
Defensive Player of the Week: Natalia Carapazza, Lipscomb
Natalia Carapazza was named Defensive Player of the Week after limiting the Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee defenses to a combined two goals in the Bisons' two draws this weekend.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Sundell Woodard, Lipscomb
Sundell Woodard was named Goalkeeper of the Week after facing a combined 43 shots and allowing just two goals in Lipscomb's pair of draws this weekend. Woodard recorded 16 saves and a .889 save percentage in 180 minutes.
VOLLEYBALL
Player of the Week: Kaili Doctor, North Florida
Kaili Doctor was named Player of the Week after recording 52 kills, a .252 hitting percentage and 15 digs on the week for the Ospreys. Doctor posted a career-high 28 kills with a .490 hitting percentage, eight digs, and one block in UNF's win against Furman on Friday.
Defensive Player of the Week: Haley Yount, Jacksonville
Haley Yount was named Defensive Player of the Week after she recorded 15 total blocks in the Dolphins' three matches over the weekend. Yount tallied 1.36 blocks per set, 0.45 digs per set and 1.36 kills per set.
Setter of the Week: Kelsey Schenck, Lipscomb
Kelsey Schenck notched 83 set assists, seven kills, six service aces, 24 digs and three blocks to be named Setter of the Week. She leads the conference in assists per set (11.86), and sercive aces per set (0.86).
Freshman of the Week: Maddie Carnes, Bellarmine
Maddie Carnes was named Freshman of the Week. Carnes recorded 110 assists, 30 digs, nine kills, six blocks and two service aces in Bellarmine's 2-1 opening weekend.
