JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) has announced the weekly award winners for Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer for Monday, August 24.
MEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Matias Tobon, Jacksonville
Matias Tobon earned Player of the week after leading Jacksonville to the programs first 2-0 start since 2001. He recorded two goals, one assist, five points and a game-winning goal on the week.
Defensive Player of the Week: Gavin Crowe, Bellarmine
Gavin Crowe was named Defensive Player of the Week. He helped Bellarmine secure a 3-2 victory against Evansville. He was apart of the Knights defense that limited Evansville to just five shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Simen Havig, Jacksonville
Simen Havig was named Goalkeeper of the Week. He recorded eight saves, with a .889 save percentage and a .50 goals-against average across a full 180 minutes in the Dolphins pair of wins this week. Against Houston Christian, Havig recorded four saves to earn a shutout victory.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Kaitlin Gabelman, FGCU
Kaitlin Gabelman recorded two goals on the week in FGCU's pair of victories to be named Player of the Week. Against LSU, she netted the first half equalizer to help the Eagles to a 3-2 upset in Baton Rouge.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ella Flynn, Bellarmine
Ella Flynn was named Defensive Player of the Week after helping limit Indiana to a single goal, which was a penalty kick. She helped limit the Hoosiers to just five shots on goal and sank a penalty kick in the 90th minute to earn the draw.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Taylor Gardner, Jacksonville
Taylor Gardner faced 16 shots against Georgia Southern, allowing none, to earn Goalkeeper of the Week. She played a full 90 minutes and recorded four saves in the Dolphins' 0-0 draw.
