ASUN Weekly Awards - Oct. 5

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) has announced the weekly award winners for Cross Country, Men's Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Women's Soccer and Volleyball for Monday, October 5. 

CROSS COUNTRY
Men's Runner of the Week: Max Hooper, Lipscomb 
Hooper led the Bisons with a historic performance at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, crossing the line 12th overall in 153-runner field full of Power 4 competitors with a time of 23:05.58 to establish a new Lipscomb program record in the 8K.

Men's Freshman of the Week: Kobey Yates, Lipscomb
Yates was the next Bison across the line at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, finishing 38th overall with a time of 23:24.40, the 7th fastest freshman time in the field. 

Women's Runner of the Week: Harley Kletz, Lipscomb 
Kletz delivered the top performance of the day for the Lipscomb women at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, finishing eighth overall in a 150-runner field in 19:39.8, marking a Lipscomb 6K program record.

Women's Freshman of the Week: Matilda Cole, Lipscomb
Cole was Lipscomb's second finisher, placing 38th in 20:11.0, the ninth-fastest time among the freshman class in the race.

MEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Alfonso Conde, Stetson
Alfonso Conde was named Player of the Week. He recorded two goals, in the Hatters' 4-1 win against Lipscomb. The brace marked Conde's first multi-goal performance this season. 

Defensive Player of the Week: Rafa Rios, North Florida
Rafa Rios was named Defensive Player of the Week. Rios helped anchor a backline that allowed just one goal against the Central Arkansas Bears to lead the Ospreys to a 2-1 victory and a postseason berth. 

Goalkeeper of the Week: Simen Havig, Jacksonville
Simen Havig recorded six saves on the week, including four in the first half against receiving votes, Memphis, to be named Goalkeeper of the Week. Havig has recorded 10 saves and two shutouts in two career apperances against Memphis. 

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Katie Brightwell, Lipscomb
Katie Brightwell earned Player of the Week after posting two goals and an assists, for five points against FGCU and Stetson. The Bisons earned a 2-2 draw against FGCU before shutting out Stetson, 1-0 at home. 

Defensive Player of the Week: Millie Urquhart, Jacksonville
Millie Urquhart was named Defensive Player of the Week. She anchored a defense that allowed just two shots on goal. Urquhart also scored the equalizing goal to avoid a loss for the Dolphins in their 1-1 draw against Queens. 

Goalkeeper of the Week: Sofia Miliancano, North Florida
Sofia Miliancano earned Goalkeeper of the Week after recording eight saves on the week, four in each game against West Florida and Queens. Her clean sheet against Queens marked her third-consecutive this season and her 16th collegiate shutout. 

VOLLEYBALL
Player of the Week: Julija Grubisic Cabo, FGCU
Julija Gribisic Cabo was named Player of the Week. She recored 25 kills, 15 digs, and four blocks. The Eagles posted a 2-0 record on the week with wins against Queens and West Florida.

Defensive Player of the Week: Yarimar Francis Garay, North Florida
Yarimar Francis Garay was named Defensive Player of the Week. She recorded 16 total blocks, 2.67 kills per set, and 1.78 blocks per set. 

Setter of the Week: Kelsey Schenck, Lipscomb
Lipscomb's Kelsey Schenck earned Setter of the Week after recording 95 assists, and 10.56 assists per set in nine sets to help the Bisons post a 2-0 record at home this week. 

Freshman of the Week: Maju Hildebrand, FGCU
Maju Hildebrand earned the Freshman of the Week accolade after recording 78 assists for a 9.75 per set average. She added 14 digs and three blocks on the Eagles 1-1 week.

Swimming & Diving
Men's Swimmer of the Week: Zach Redding, Old Dominion
Zach Redding collected three wins in Old Dominion's meet agaisnt George Mason. He won the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 20.21 and 44.66, before claiming first in the butterfly in a time of 47.77. 

Women's Swimmer of the Week: Ashley Kirby, North Florida 
Ashley Kirby earned three podium finishes against Miami to be named Swimmer of the Week. She posted a personal-best time of 29.18 to claim first place in the breastroke before earning second place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay. 

Women's Diver of the Week: Alexandra Andueza, FGCU
Alexandra Andueza collected two wins in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives to be named Diver of the Week. She scored a 289.15 in the 3M before recording a 259.65 in the 1M.
