ATLANTA – Central Arkansas' duo of Laci Bohannan and Caylan Koons were joined by EKU's Josie Schmitendorf and North Alabama's Reese Ricketts in earning this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Bohannan and Koons helped the Sugar Bears go 3-0 on the week without dropping a set, which included a conference-opening sweep of North Alabama. Bohannan, the ASUN Player of the Week, averaged 4.00 kills and 2.22 digs per set across the three victories with six total blocks. Koons earned the Setter of the Week honor after 10.89 assists per set and notched a double-double against the Lions with 32 assists and 10 digs. Schmitendorf secured the fifth Defensive Player of the Week award in her career after averaging 5.07 digs per set and leading the Colonels to a 3-1 week. She reached double-digit digs twice with 20+ against Marshall (26) and Oakland (22). Ricketts registered 47 digs, nine blocks and three service aces on the week for the Lions. The Freshman of the Week averaged a double-double in kills and digs and set a career high with 17 digs in a historic victory against Alabama.
