ATLANTA – EKU's Josie Schmitendorf, FGCU's Raegan Richardson, North Florida's Amy Burkhardt and West Georgia's Callaway Cason earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Burkhardt hit .315 across opening weekend for the Ospreys which included 4.09 kills and 2.36 digs per set averages. She tallied nine blocks and notched double-double performances against Rhode Island and Mercer. Schmitendorf averaged 4.20 digs per set in matchups against Texas Tech, Iona and Boston College. The senior had a match-high 21 digs in the Colonels' sweep of the Gaels. Cason recorded 101 assists in three matches to help UWG go 2-1 at the Gamecock Classic. She opened the weekend with 43 assists against New Orleans, the first Division I victory for the Wolves in any sport. Richardson made her collegiate debut in 12 sets of action for the Eagles. She recorded double-digit assist numbers in each of the matchups which included a weekend-high of 15 against UIC on Saturday.
