JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – EKU's Sarah Mitchell and Josie Schmitendorf, Jacksonville's Haley Yount and Lipscomb's Sophia Hudepohl earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
The Colonels picked up a pair of 3-1 victories last week against Bellarmine and Stetson. Mitchell averaged 4.88 kills and 2.50 digs per set while hitting .362 and recording five service aces across both wins. Schmitendorf averaged 5.25 digs per set and finished the week with 42 total digs to earn her seventh Defensive Player of the Week award. For the eighth time in her career, Hudepohl was tabbed Setter of the Week. The junior totaled 135 assists in a three-win week for the Bisons that included back-to-back 50-assist performances against Central Arkansas (52) and North Alabama (50). Yount led the Dolphins with 11 block assists for a 1.83 blocks-per-set average in the Dolphins' sweeps of Queens and West Goergia.
