JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Central Arkansas' Kelly Van Gundy was named the 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Van Gundy highlighted the 12-member Academic All-ASUN Team announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Van Gundy holds a 3.86 GPA while majoring in Nursing. The Flower Mound, Texas, native logged a team-best nine goals this season for the Bears while also adding an assist. She has eight goals during conference play and has done so with only 34 shots taken. The senior stands alone atop the league with four game-winners in conference matches. This is her second selection to the Academic All-ASUN lineup and she is the first Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year from Central Arkansas.
The Academic All-ASUN Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All members of the team boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
