JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Top-seeded FGCU earned its fourth ASUN Conference Men's Tennis Championship in team history on Saturday afternoon after the Eagles blanked North Florida, 4-0, at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.

FGCU improves to 15-8 on the year and adds to the trophy case for the first time since 2019, joining the previous titles back in 2015 and 2017. The win also lifts the burden of the Eagles' loss in the 2022 Championship Final a year ago. The journey to the ASUN crown got started in a bit of a hole as the duo of PJ Kotan/Bruno Vietri of North Florida flew to victory in No. 2 Doubles (6-2) before ASUN Player of the Year Magnus Johnson and partner Randy Wilson pulled away, 6-4, on line one. Seemingly seconds after Doubles got tied up, Eric Oncins and Carter Bradford clinched the Doubles point for FGCU on Court Three.

Singles play provided drama on both sides of the net as the Eagles and Ospreys exchanged blows up and down the court. Johnson fought off a tough opponent in UNF's Jonas Hartenstein 6-4, 6-4 on the top line to take a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard. Four of the remaining competitions would go three sets as the Ospreys refused to give in to the top seed. The final two-set triumph concluded just a few minutes later on line five after FGCU's Eric Oncins put his squad within one tally of a banner. Line two, which featured Marcelo Supelveda of FGCU and Rodrigo Crespo of North Florida, went three sets before Supelveda survived 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the match and the automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
