All-Academic Team

ATLANTA - Liberty's Kyle Rode was tabbed the ASUN Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced Monday by the league office. Rode is joined by seven other Men's Basketball student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.

Rode, who earned his first All-Academic selection, owns a 3.84 GPA as he pursues his master's in Executive Leadership. He is now the first ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year from Liberty in the sport of Men's Basketball and the third Flame selected to the Men's Basketball All-Academic Team after Blake Preston (2021) and Colton Reed (2020).

The Lexington, Ky., native is the Flames' second-leading scorer with an average of 10.7 points per game which he pushed to 12.4 points per outing in conference play. He is knocking down 87.5% of his attempts from the free-throw line and is closing in on 1,000 points scored in his career with a current total of 981. He entered the 2022-23 campaign as a Preseason All-Conference honoree after earning Second Team All-Conference recognition following last season. He ranks in the top 10 in Liberty program history for career assists (378) and inside the top 35 in points and rebounds (456).

The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom and exemplify the ASUN's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
