#3 FGCU Advances to Championship Final After 2-0 Victory Over #2 Central Arkansas

NASHVILLE, Tenn - The FGCU offense proved to be too much for #2 Central Arkansas as the third-seeded Eagles netted two goals to earn a 2-0 win to advance to their ninth Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer Championship Final.

UCA's Sydney Brough had a great look at the net but ultimately came up short in the 21st minute as FGCU’s Olivia Molina registered her first save of the night. FGCU was the first team on the board after Kendal Gargiula saw an opening in the defense and headed the ball into the top right side of the net. The Eagles ended the first half with a 1-0 lead after outshooting the Bears 13-7.

The Eagles extended their lead in the second half after First Team All-ASUN selection Ashley Labbe scored off the assist from Kendal Gargiula. Labbe’s 75th-minute goal capped off the Eagles' 2-0 victory. FGCU’s outshot Central Arkansas 13-4 in the second half. The Eagles' defense earned its 10th shutout of the season and only allowed four shots on goal in the 90 minutes of play.

FGCU advances to the championship match and faces the fourth-seeded North Alabama Lions on Sunday at 1 PM CT. This matchup between FGCU and North Alabama will be the first time in ASUN history that a championship final does not feature a #1 or #2 seed.
