Beach Volleyball All-Conference Honors
ATLANTA, Ga. - For the first time in league history, FGCU claimed the ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year accolade as Kacie Johnson & Maddison Parmelly earned the honor, voted on by the league's head coaches. The Eagles' Head Coach Chris Sweat was selected by his peers as the Coach of the Year after guiding his squad to a historic 23-win season while Stetson's Kylie Neuschaeferova was named the Freshman of the Year.
The FGCU duo of Johnson and Parmelly earned the program's first Pair of the Year accolade after posting a 20-10 record overall and going 18-8 in the first flight. Johnson and Parmelly were one of two pairs for the Eagles to reach 20 wins on the year while also recording three wins against top-20 teams. The pair also helped the Eagles to a new program record for wins in a single season with 23. The tandem earned the final Pair of the Week honor of the season after defeating duos from two top-20 teams in No. 14 Georgia State and No. 18 South Carolina.
Stetson's Neuschaeferova became the fourth Hatter in program history to earn the Freshman of the Year honor. The Czech Republic native went 19-12 overall this season including a 7-2 record against ASUN opponents. She collected a total of three ASUN Pair of the Week honors, the most by any freshman in the conference this season. Neuschaeferova tallied eight wins against nationally-ranked opponents in No. 4 FSU, No. 10 FAU, No. 13 GSU, No. 18 South Carolina and No. 20 FGCU while primarily playing on Court 1.
After leading FGCU to 23 victories on the season, a new program record, Sweat garnered the Coach of the Year honor. He became the first coach in FGCU program history to earn the accolade after guiding his team to its 11th-consecutive appearance in the ASUN Championship.
