UCA's Walker Garners FCS ADA All-America Recognition
2022 FCS ADA All-America Team
ATLANTA – Central Arkansas' David Walker added another honor for the 2022 season while making some ASUN Conference Football history when he became the first league player recognized as a Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) All-America as announced Monday by the organization.
The ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, Walker topped the ASUN and ranked second in the FCS for sacks with 12 and tackles for loss with 22. Finishing the season with 66 total tackles including 36 solo stops, he tallied at least one TFL in 10 of 11 games, headlined by a season-best four TFLs against Missouri State and a UCA school record-matching 3.5 sack effort in a road victory at Stephen F. Austin. Walker was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented to the FCS Defensive Player of the Year, and was selected as one of three players to attend the presentation ceremony for the award along with garnering Associated Press (AP) and Hero Sports All-American honors.
The 10th annual award recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions across 11 different positions. The 2022 class includes student-athletes from 11 different institutions, representing seven of 15 different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors. From the 11 All-America Team honorees, an Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will be announced on January 4, 2023, in advance of the FCS National Championship Game. The Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year recipients will be recognized at the FCS national championship contest in Frisco, Texas, during an on-field presentation.
