ATLANTA, Ga. - This installment of the ASUN Beam Report highlights a new conference initiative titled ASUN Teammates.  The ASUN Teammates segment will be a video panel highlighting the thoughts and concerns of our student-athletes, coaches and administrators as well as the surrounding community about race relations in America and the role of sports in that dynamic.

Former Lipscomb Volleyball player, Maddie Phillips, who graduated from last year, has transitioned into her new role at Granbery Elementary in Brentwood, Tenn., as a second-grade teacher. Phillips discusses the lessons she took away from Head Coach Brandon Rosenthal and Lipscomb University and how they better prepared her for the life away from the net. The Houston, Texas native played a key role in helping the Bisons win an ASUN Volleyball Championship in 2016 by starting all 30 matches during their title run. Phillips also recorded a 4.00 GPA in both semesters of her senior year contributing to the program's seventh consecutive year of being acknowledged by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with a Team Academic Award for success in the classroom.
