2019-20 ASUN Conference Men's Golf All-Conference Awards
ATLANTA, Ga. - The ASUN Conference Men's Golf All-Conference Team was announced on Thursday. The team was made up of 10 student-athletes from four institutions with Liberty leading the way with four honorees while Jacksonville, Lipscomb and North Florida each had two.
Alexandre Fuchs, Kieran Vincent and Jonathan Yaun of Liberty each were unanimous selections. Lipscomb also had two selections that were unanimous in Nolan Ray and Paul Swindell and while North Florida's Michael Mattiace joined the Bison duo.
*Alexandre Fuchs, Liberty - Was third on the team with a 71.96 average and a 41-7 head-to-head record against ASUN opponents...Finished eighth at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic Invite with a 10-under par 203 (68-67-68)...The 10-under par 203 set a new career 54-hole low for the junior and is tied for the fifth-best individual 54-hole total in school history.
*Kieran Vincent, Liberty - Finished the season ranked just behind his teammate at No. 53 in the final Golfstat rankings...He was second on the team in stroke average (71.17) and was 47-1 against ASUN opponents...The Zimbabwe native had his best finish this year at the Island Resort Intercollegiate with a 6-under-par 210 (71-68-71), tying for second.
*Jonathan Yaun, Liberty - Top-ranked golfer in the ASUN, sitting at No. 50 in the final Golfstat rankings...Posted a 48-0 head-to-head record against ASUN opponents this year, pacing the Flames with a 70.78 season stroke average...Tied for the team lead with three top-10 placements, securing his first career collegiate medalist honor by finishing tied for first place at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate with a winning score of 8-under par 205 (73-65-67).
*Nolan Ray, Lipscomb - Claimed individual titles at the Lone Star Invitational and the Autotrader Collegiate Classic while adding three other top-10 finishes in his seven tournaments this season for the Bisons...Finished the season with a 70.45 scoring average, the lowest among the top ASUN players. Ranked No. 86 in the country in final Golfstat rankings.
*Paul Swindell, Lipscomb - Finished in the top-five in three of the five tournaments he participated in and was the top finisher for the Bisons at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational and at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate...Posted a 70.50 scoring average, second-best on the Lipscomb team behind Ray.
*Michael Mattiace, North Florida - Played in all eight events for the Ospreys with a 72.38 stroke average...Carded a team-high 11 rounds under par including six rounds in the 60s...Had a pair of top-10 finishes and five top-25...Finished with a personal best 9-under par 207 at the Quail Valley.
Eduardo Carrete, Jacksonville - Posted eight rounds in the 60s and nine of par or better this season...His stroke average was 71.16 with a low round of 65 and a low 54-hole score of 207...His best finish came at the Florida Gators Invitational where he closed in a tie for fourth in the 83-person field.
Thomas Thurloway, Jacksonville - Finished the season with a 71.38 stroke average and had a low round of 66 and a low 54-hole score of 207...He posted six rounds in the 60s and had eight of par or better...His best finish of the season was tied sixth at the Sea Best Invitational.
Ervin Chang, Liberty - Tied for the lead with three top-10 finishes, including a tie for fifth place at the Rod Myers Invitational with a 6-under par 210 (70-69-71)...He ranked third on the team in stroke average for the season at 72.22.
Davis Lee, North Florida - Fired 10 rounds of par or better including nine under par with a career-best 66 at Quail Valley...Played in all eight events for UNF as a freshman, posting a 72.42 stroke average...Had a team-best six top-25 finishes with a career-best top-five at the Quail Valley with an 11-under par 205.
