ATLANTA, Ga. - The 2019 ASUN Conference Women's Lacrosse season is in full swing. Three teams stand atop the standings, as defending champion Jacksonville, Liberty and Coastal Carolina have collected conference wins thus far.
Jacksonville is currently riding a seven-game win streak, as they take on Coastal Carolina in a rematch of the 2017 & 2018 ASUN Championship Finals on Friday evening in Jacksonville. The Dolphins took both of those meetings to claim each of the last two ASUN crowns.
The Chanticleers is off to a strong start, as they sit with a 7-3 overall record. In last Friday's contest against Howard, senior attacker Haley Alexander recently became the program's all-time leading scorer, as she sits with 193 career total points.
The Liberty Flames have taken the ASUN by storm in just their first season in the league. They currently sit with a 10-2 overall mark and 3-0 in ASUN play. The Flames are one of the best defensive teams in the nation, as they lead the NCAA with 16.33 caused turnovers per game. Brianna McCaffrey headlines that defensive unit, as she sits second nationally in caused turnovers per game with a mark of 3.50.
The ASUN also features one of the nation's top goal scorers in Kennesaw State's Siena Gore. Gore leads the ASUN with 44 goals, which also sits ninth nationally. Her goals per game mark of 4.40 sits fifth in the nation.
