ATLANTA, Ga. - Last week the ASUN Conference handed out five championship trophies for beach volleyball, men & women's tennis and men & women's golf.
In DeLand, Fla., the ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship began with two competitive matches between North Florida and FGCU. The Ospreys would win the initial contest on Friday; however, the Eagles would avenge their loss to advance to the final against Stetson University. FGCU got out to a quick 2-1 lead with wins at the 1 and the 4 pair. The Hatters would storm back to claim victories at the 2 & 3 position to earn their third consecutive ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship.
Down 3-0 in the women's tennis semifinals, FGCU came back to win the final four points against Liberty to earn a berth in the Championship Finals against North Florida. Surviving a comeback bid from FGCU, North Florida claimed its fifth-straight ASUN Conference Women's Tennis Championship.
On the men's side, the FGCU Eagles won their second 2019 ASUN Conference Men's Tennis Championship in the last three years with a 4-2 win over the North Florida Ospreys.
In Braselton, Ga., the men & women's golf championship went down at the Legend's golf course. Kennesaw State had an impressive showing en route to their second consecutive ASUN Women's Golf Championship. The Owls had the top three finishers in Medy Thavong, Roanne Tomlinson & Clara Aveling.
North Florida collected its program's sixth ASUN Conference Men's Golf Championship title as the Ospreys became the 12th league team to earn back-to-back trophies. Jordan Batchelor led from wire-to-wire to grab individual medalist honors as he finished the tournament at five-under par.
