Bisons & Eagles Dominate #ASUNMSOC Postseason Superlative Awards

2018 ASUN Men's Soccer Postseason Awards and Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. - ASUN Conference Men's Soccer Regular Season Champions, FGCU & Lipscomb combined to claim all five of the league's top-five postseason awards as Logan Paynter, Preston Kilwein, Gustavo Vasconcelos, O'Vonte Mullings and Charles Morrow were honored at the Men's Soccer Virtual Banquet for their outstanding seasons.

Lipscomb's Paynter collected the ASUN Player of the Year accolade becoming the second Bisons player to receive the honor joining Omar Djabi (2013). FGCU's Preston Kilwein became the second-straight Eagles to earn unanimous section as the Defensive Player of the Year (Nicolas Samayoa; 2017) and the fourth honoree from FGCU all-time.



FGCU's Vasconelos is the second different Eagle to earn ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year joining Nathan Ingham (2015). Adam Glick previously earned Defensive Player of the Year as a goalkeeper in 2010 for the Eagles. Vasconcelos led the league in GAA (1.32), Save Percentage (.778) with two shutouts in conference play.

Mullings becomes the fourth different Eagle to receive the ASUN Freshman of the Year accolade joining Xavier Silva (2011), Felipe DeSousa (2012) and Isaiah Madird (2013). The Toronto native also earned a First Team All-Conference nod as he tallied seven goals on the season; tied for fifth in the league, while his 18 points on the year sat alone in fifth.

Bisons Head Coach Charles Morrow earned his second career ASUN Coach of the Year recognition with the prior coming in 2013. Lipscomb finished the regular season with a 5-1-0 record to earn a share of the league regular-season title and the No. 1 overall seed in the ASUN Championship. Morrow also led the Bisons to a vitory at No. 10 Louisville. 

The 2018 ASUN Men's Soccer Championship begins on Friday, November 2 with two first-round matches. No. 3 North Florida takes on No. 6 Stetson at 5 PM in Fort Myers, Fla., while No. 4 Jacksonville faces No. 5 Liberty at 8 PM ET in Nashville, Tenn. The UNF-Stetson match will be broadcasted live on ESPN+, while fans can tune in to Facebook Live to see the Dolphins and Flames matchup.
