LakePoint, Ga. - This year's ASUN Women's Soccer Postseason Awards were highlighted by Lipscomb's Ellen Lundy, FGCU's Ashley Parks and Melissa Weck. North Florida's Thais Reiss takes home the ASUN Freshman of the Year honor and Lipscomb's Kevin O'Brien collects his second consecutive ASUN Coach of the Year award.
Lipscomb's first-ever ASUN Player of the Year honoree, Lundy led the Bisons to their first No. 1 seed and ASUN Regular Season title in program history. The senior was unanimously selected to the ASUN First Team All-Conference after consistent performances all season, totaling seven goals, four of which were game-winners. Lundy ranks 28th nationally in the NCAA for game-winning goals and third in the ASUN. She also was awarded First-Team honors last season as a defender, which showcases Lundy's dynamic skills as a player in any position for the Bisons.
Parks becomes the third FGCU player in the past four years to earn the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year accolade. The senior center back led the Eagles to eight clean sheets this season. Parks collected ASUN First Team All-Conference honors last year as well.
FGCU's Melissa Weck becomes the second-ever Eagle to earn the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year award after Brittany Brown back in 2013. Weck posted eight shutouts this season, ranking 19th nationally and 25th in GAA (0.579). She also picked up ASUN All-Freshmen Team honors last season leading the league in GAA (0.85).
Reiss becomes the first North Florida player to earn the ASUN Freshman of the Year honor since 2010. The Brazil native made an instant impact in the Ospreys' offense this season recording six goals and 13 points. Reiss totals three game-winning goals on the season and ranks second in the ASUN for shots (51).
O'Brien receives his second consecutive ASUN Coach of the Year award, becoming only the third coach in the ASUN to win back-to-back accolades. Under O'Brien, Lipscomb grabbed its first-ever ASUN Regular Season title and clinched a No. 1 seed in the league championship. O'Brien guided the Bisons to an 8-6-3 record to wrap up the regular season and went 5-1-1 in conference play.
In addition to FGCU's Parks and Weck, the Eagles see 11 players receive ASUN All-Conference awards, the most in program history. First Team honoree, Holly Fritz, ranks seventh nationally in assists with nine on the season joined by senior Nikki Hudson who collected First-Team honors back in 2015. Defender, Lindsey Patton appears on the list after being named Second Team All-Conference last season. Lastly, FGCU forward, Majorie Boilesen collects First Team honors after leading the ASUN in goals (11) and points (27) this season. Boilesen also ranks 22nd in the nation in goals.
Joining Lundy on the ASUN First Team All-Conference for Lipscomb is last year's Defensive Player of the Year, Niamh Rawlins, who led the Bisons to five clean sheets this season. Also on the list is senior midfielder Jade Abarca who tallied one goal and three assists.
Senior Hatter Sarah Collins picks up her third-consecutive First Team All-Conference award after another great season. Collins recorded nine goals this year, totaling 22 points and breaking Stetson's All-Time Career Goals record with 37 to date.
Jacksonville's senior Joelle d'Entremont earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season. She is tied for third on the team with two goals and one assist, totaling five points.
Kennesaw State's senior defender Abby Roth collects her first First Team All-Conference award, after receiving second team honors the past two seasons. On the backline, Roth has led the Owls to seven shutouts this year and is tied for second on the team with three goals and one assist.
