Full Atlantic Sun Sand Volleyball Awards List

MACON, Ga. - Stetson's No. 1 pair of Julie Bassett and Kaley Melville were selected as the 2015 Atlantic Sun Sand Volleyball Pair of the Year as the conference announced its All-Conference and Postseason awards. Mercer's Emily Krogman gives the Bears their second consecutive Freshman of the Year honor, while Stetson's Head Coach Kristina Hernandez earns her first Coach of the Year award.

Bassett and Melville were honored after posting an 8-0 record in A-Sun play and going 19-2 in dual matches this season. The duo led Stetson to its first A-Sun regular season title carrying over the momentum from last season's first A-Sun Championship victory. The duo won 16 of 18 sets in conference play and were selected twice as A-Sun Pair of the Week honorees. Heading into the upcoming A-Sun Championship the duo holds an 18-game winning streak in dual matches.

Joining them on the All-Conference team are teammates Maren Rygh and Kristin Lind. The No. 2 pair for the Hatters also posted an 8-0 record in A-Sun play this season and went 19-2 overall in dual matches. Jacksonville's top pair of Sammie Strausbaugh and Kelly Koop were selected to the All-Conference team after going 12-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. North Florida's No. 1 pair of Cameron McGuire and Cari Whitmire earned a spot after winning eight matches this season. The final pair to make the All-Conference squad were Mercer's Emily Krogman and Erin Brett. They hold a 12-5 record playing at the No. 4 pair spot for most of the season.

Krogman captured the 2015 A-Sun Freshman of the Year honor giving Mercer back-to-back winners after Tori Penrod claimed the award in 2014. Krogman played in the No. 4 slot for the season and finished with a 6-2 record in A-Sun play. Her A-Sun wins were highlighted by defeating the No. 4-pair of the A-Sun regular season champions Stetson with partner Erin Brett. They also picked up non-conference wins against South Carolina, UAB and New Orleans.

Joining Krogman on the All-Freshman team are teammate Sophie Peel, Jacksonville's Kelly Koop, North Florida's Jess Kinlaw and Stetson's Madison Akins.

Stetson Head Coach Kristina Hernandez earns her first A-Sun Sand Volleyball Coach of the Year award, after guiding the Hatters to their first regular season title. Hernandez led the team to an 18-3 record including going 8-0 in conference play. After capturing its first A-Sun Championship title last season, the Hatters will enter this year's event as the No. 1 seed for the first time.
