Lipscomb's Ford Earns Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honor
MACON, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference awarded the 2014 A-Sun Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award to Lipscomb's Lauren Ford, announced Tuesday by the conference office. Ford is joined by eight other student-athletes on this year's Academic All-Conference Team.
Ford, a unanimous selection for the Academic All-Conference Team, has been one of the standout performers on the court this year for the regular season champion Lady Bisons. She ranked second in kills and kills per set this season in the league, tallying double-digit kills in 22 matches. With her 423 kills this season, Ford moved into the top-five on the A-Sun's career kills list at 1,562 total kills.
The Lenaxa, Kan. native also excels in the classroom with a 3.96 cumulative GPA in Exercise Science. This marks her second selection to the A-Sun Academic All-Conference team. Earlier this season Ford was also named to the Capital One District 3 All-Academic First Team.
The Academic All-Conference Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom and exemplify the A-Sun's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
