Lipscomb's Buhigas Collects Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honor
MACON, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference awarded the 2014 A-Sun Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year award to Lipscomb goalkeeper Anna Buhigas, announced Wednesday by the conference office. Buhigas joined 10 other women's soccer student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference Team.
Buhigas, a unanimous selection for the Academic All-Conference Team, was an important piece to Lipscomb's success this year starting in net for all 18 matches on the season. She is tied for the conference lead with nine shutouts and carries a 0.78 GAA.
The Columbus, Ohio native helped Lipscomb to a program-best 10 wins this season and a first round bye in the A-Sun Championship as the No. 2 seed. In the classroom, Buhigas carries a 4.0 GPA with a major in Spanish Education.
The Academic All-Conference Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom and exemplify the A-Sun's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
