Ackley & Flames Win FGCU Invitational; Four Others Compete in Week Two

Women's Cross Country Schedule


ATLANTA, Ga. - Liberty won its second straight meet in the second weekend of ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country action as the Flames were led by Adelyn Ackley. Three other league teams competed this past weekend across two meets.

On the course of the 2019 ASUN Women's Cross Country Championship, Ackley led the Flames to another 1-2-3-4 finish with a time of 17:42.27 in a 5K race at the FGCU Invitational. She won the race by 57 seconds and Liberty topped runner-up South Florida by 48 points. The top-four finishers were rounded out by Calli Parker (18:39.27, 2nd), Priscillah Kiplagat (19:01.91, 3rd) and Brittany Carnathan (19:17.34). FGCU placed third with their top-15 finishers Gianna Citarella (20:00.99, 10th) and Jillian Felton (20:20.18). Stetson's top finisher was Sally Calhoun (20:39.17, 15th) as the Hatters placed fourth.

In the school's first home meet since 2007, North Alabama finished the UNA Invitational 5K in third place out of a field of 12. Emma Knight led the Lions with a time of 18:30.2 and a third-place finish. She was followed by Phoebe Moon (18:49.9, 7th) and Kara Nix (18:58.4, 8th). The Lions are in action again on Sept. 21st at the John McNichols Invitational.

NJIT's top runner in the Fordham Fiasco 5K was Cassandra Raia, who finished with a time of 20:37.73. As a team, the Highlanders placed sixth in the field of 11. NJIT's other top finishers were Kelly Dicristina and Laila Hill-Glover. The team will be in action again on Sept. 28th at the Ted Owen Invitational.
