Brenner Takes Victory in Nashville; Lands ASUN Weekly Award

LakePoint, Ga. - Lipscomb's Courtney Brenner garnered her first career ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Only a sophomore, Brenner crossed the finish line at the Belmont Opener 5K ahead of the pack in 17:40.6 for her first career title. The Wrightwood, Calif., native competed against a field consisting of two regionally ranked squads in Vanderbilt (#3; South Region) and Belmont (#15; South Region). She was one of three runners to break the 18-minute mark in the 5K including Vandy's Maddie Criscione (17:50.4) and Megan Huebner (17:50.8).

Lipscomb now heads for Cartersville, Ga. to run on the Sam Smith Park course in the Stan Sims Invitational. The site serves as the ASUN Championship course on Oct. 28th. Four ASUN sides run on the course on Friday; FGCU, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb and Stetson.
