JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (JUDolphins.com) – With a solid all-around team performance, highlighted by three players hitting .250 or better, the Jacksonville University volleyball team snapped a nine-game skid with a sweep of ASUN Conference foe North Alabama, 3-0, Thursday evening at Historic Swisher Gymnasium.

"It was a great team victory tonight. We had a bunch of players that did their jobs tonight which helped us pick up the win. We keep talking about each player doing their job. The exciting thing is that I know we can be better and still take it to another level," noted head coach Evan Muys following the match.

Leading the offense for the Dolphins was junior Madison Rayam, who hit an astounding .714 (10-0-14) with 10 kills to earn Hodges Mazda Player of the Game honors.

Along with Rayam, freshman Sydney Bolding hit .417 (6-1-12) with six kills and a team-high four blocks, while freshman Lexi Wierzbicki hit .391 (11-2-23) with a team-high 11 kills and three blocks. Chipping in with nine kills, junior Bailey Foy posted a .259 hitting percentage (9-2-27) with three blocks. As a team, the Dolphins hit .274 for the match, including .375 in the final set.

After leading by two then trailing by two in the opening set, the Dolphins (8-18, 4-8 ASUN) found their stride behind an 8-3 run down the stretch to surge ahead with a 17-12 advantage. The Lions pressured things late after a 5-1 run slid the visitors to within two, 22-20, but the Dolphins polished off the set with the final three points, 25-20.

Continuing its momentum into the second set, JU rattled off six straight points behind impeccable serving from freshman Abby Jackson, who posted six digs on the night. While UNA (3-22, 1-11 ASUN) battled back within two, 9-7, the Dolphins shut the door with a 4-0 run sparked by a block from Foy and freshman Madison Dagenhart and never looked back en route to a 25-16 win.

The third set morphed into a back-and-forth battle early on, with the teams trading points, though the Dolphins held onto a 12-10 lead. Following a Lions timeout, it was Jacksonville who pounced with a 6-2 run to put things squarely in their favor, 18-12. Never letting off the gas, JU rode the set to a 25-18 win and its third 3-0 sweep of the season.

Dagenhart (13 assists) and junior Natalie Martin (23 assists) split time at setter, combining for 36 assists, while four separate Dolphins – Jackson, Foy, freshman Addyson Lewis, and senior Mallory Mattingly – all recorded at least one service ace. Defensively, senior Natalie Wehner led the charge with 25 digs, followed by Lewis' 10. Mattingly also contributed with six kills and seven digs.

The Dolphins return to action this Sunday, Nov. 3 when they visit NJIT at noon.
