ATLANTA, Ga. - FGCU and NJIT picked up wins in ASUN Conference Volleyball action on Tuesday night, both coming in the sweep variety. The Eagles took down Stetson in straight sets, while NJIT downed North Alabama in the same fashion.

Freshman of the Week, Dana Axner, set a FGCU D-1 era record on Tuesday night at Alico Arena, as she tallied 28 digs; the most for a three-set match. Daniele Serrano and Cortney VanLiew led the charge offensively for FGCU, as they both recorded 11 kills. Serrano also hit .381 with six blocks. Senior setter Maggie Rick tallied 24 assists, giving her four-straight matches of 20 assists or more. With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-1 in the ASUN, just a game behind first place Kennesaw State. Anna Bezhan led Stetson with 11 kills, while Chelcie Spence also set a program record for digs in a three-set match with 27.
After coming back from down 2-0 against Jacksonville on Saturday to win, NJIT followed that up with a sweep of North Alabama on Tuesday to earn their second ASUN victory. The Highlanders used a balanced attack to take down the Lions. Jovana Baosic and Madi Busler tallied nine kills a piece, while Makayla Greenfield had eight. Liz Benson and Marissa Soistman each tallied double-digit assists, as Benson had 19 and Soistman had 15. The Highlanders held their own from the service line, serving up nine aces. Joise Maldanado led UNA with six kills.
