NJIT Senior Success Story: Shannon Turner

Senior women's track and field athlete, Shannon Turner, enrolled in NJIT's Albert Dorman Honors College & Newark College of Engineering, graduated on May 21, 2019 with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering. 

Turner's academic prowess stacks up with the best that the ASUN Conference has to offer as she owns a 4.0 GPA at NJIT.

A four-time selection to the ASUN All-Academic Team, Turner is a member of numerous academic organizations including Chi Alpha Sigma, Omega Chi Epsilon - Eta Chapter, NJIT Albert Dorman Honors College and has been selected to the Dean's List in all six semesters entering her senior season.

Competing in throwing events for NJIT's Track & Field program, Turner has set the program's record in the hammer and weight throws.

On top of her academic and athletic responsibilities and commitments, Turner has served as NJIT's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President & Vice President over the past two years.

The senior thrower works as a Student Employee with the NJIT Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), while also competing with NJIT's Chem-E-Car program. She was recently tabbed as NJIT's recipient of the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year award.
