Women's #ASUNTF To Compete in Three Power-Five Hosted Meets

LakePoint, Ga. - ASUN Conference Track and Field stands to face some of its toughest competition of the year this weekend, participating in three power-five hosted meets across the country. Kennesaw State and Lipscomb perform at the UVA-hosted Virginia Challenge, while North Florida participates at the USC Open in Columbia, S.C. The Bisons will send part of its squad to join USC Upstate at the Georgia Tech Invitational and NJIT heads to the All-American Invitational in East Stroudsburg, Pa. 

Six ASUN performances rank within the top-30 of the NCAA East this year, with North Florida's Eden Meyer and Kennesaw State's Jordan Gray and Jocselyn Powell owning marks ranked within the top-25 in all of Division I Track and Field.

Next Meet: 
at Virginia Challenge (Apr. 21 - 10 AM & Apr. 22 - 9 AM)
- Jordan Gray set a school record in the heptathlon at last year's Virginia Challenge with a point total of 5240. She crushed that record earlier this year with a tally of 5377 at the Joe Walker Invitational
- Gray set another program record with her leap of 6.03m in the long jump just two weeks ago at the UNF Invite, while Erica Sergeant's clearance of 3.82m in the pole vault set a school record at the same meet
- Kennesaw State owns the top ASUN mark in eight events this year, as the Owls own the best six long jump performances in the confernce for 2017

- Courtney Brenner earned ASUN Track Athlete of the Week honors after beating her personal best in the 5000m by 43 seconds (16:33.24), on the way to a Lipscomb program record
- Four Lipscomb women's runners competed at the Virginia Challenge in 2016, as Barbara Lee Ball's 34:40.32 in the 10K took fifth among collegiate athletes
- Kacey Kemper ran a 4:49.17 in the Georgia Tech Invitational 1500m last year. Her 4:32.39 at the Bison Outdoor Classic last week ranks second in the ASUN this year and her 10:23.22 in the Crimson Tide Invitational steeple leads the conference

- Alyssa Mitchko took ASUN Field Athlete of the Week honors after chucking an ASUN-best 39.74m in the javelin at the METS Outdoor Championship. NJIT owns three of the top-five javelin marks in the conference this outdoor season
- The last time NJIT competed in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Kelli Hess finished 11th among collegiates in the 5000m run, pacing a team-best 19:56.82
- Elisabeth Paulina ran the third-fastest 400m of the ASUN season last week, claiming second place at the METS Outdoor Championship with a time of 56.94

- North Florida owns the top conference marker in three different events this season, with Eden Meyer's 33:43.36 in the 10K beating the remaining ASUN field by nearly 90 seconds. Her performance ranks 11th in Division I Track and Field
- Tianna Hearn set a personal and program record at the UNF Invite two weeks ago, with a 1:00.96 in the 400m hurdles
- Alyssa Young owns the only other North Florida performance ranking within the top-50 of the NCAA East. Her clearance of 1.73m in the high jump is 26th in the region and 65th in the country
