Excellent Performances for Andermatten & Gray Lead to Track Honors

 

ATLANTA, Ga. - North Florida's Sonja Andenmatten & Kennesaw State's Jordan Gray dominated their events over the weekend to earn the ASUN Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field weekly accolades. Gray sits first in the NCAA in the pentathlon after a victory at the Samford Multi, while Andenmatten raced to first place in the 800-meter run at the Gamecock Inaugural to rank 11th in the nation.

ASUN Women's Indoor Track & Freshman Performer of the Week - Jan. 23rd
Sonja Andenmatten, North Florida

- First Career ASUN Conference Indoor Track & Freshman Performer of the Week Award
- Competed in the 800-meter run at the Gamecock Inaugural in her collegiate debut
- Won the event in a field of 56 runners with her time of 2:08.66
- Finished 5.14 seconds ahead of the second-place runner
- Currently ranks 11th in the nation & first in the ASUN by 3.13 seconds

- Competed at the Samford Multi-Meet in Birmingham on Thursday in the Pentathlon
- Won the event with 4,218 points and event victories in the long jump & shot put
- Finished second in the high jump & 800-meter run and third in the 60-meter hurdles
- Ranks first in the NCAA this season & third overall in the world for the year
