@ASUNTennis Squads Begin Season Saturday; FGCU & UNF Voted Favorites

LakePoint, Ga. - ASUN Tennis squads prepare for their season debuts, with matches beginning Saturday. With the season on the rise, ASUN Conference Men's and Women's Tennis coaches participated in a Preseason Poll ranking teams in order of predicted finish. 

On the men's side, FGCU came out on top collecting 43 points and three first-place votes, while Stetson received 42 points and two first-place votes. The final two first-place votes went to North Florida, who finished third in the Coaches Poll with 40 points. Lipscomb, Kennesaw State, USC Upstate and NJIT rounded out the preseason rankings in the Men's Coaches Poll.

In the ASUN Women's Tennis Coaches Poll, FGCU and North Florida split the first place spot, each totaling 44 points. The Ospreys received four first-place votes, while the Eagles followed with three. Stetson and Lipscomb posted third and fourth place finishes, respectively. NJIT, Kennesaw State and USC Upstate completed the preseason rankings on the women's side.

Reigning ASUN Men's Tennis Champions, FGCU hosts UNC Wilmington for its first match of the season on Sunday. The Eagles look to repeat an incredible ride as they won the ASUN Championship as the No. 4 seed last season. Both FGCU and North Florida Women's Tennis teams split the first place spot in the poll after a close ASUN Championship Final last season. The Ospreys took home their sixth title and third-straight, defeating the Eagles 4-3. 

The ASUN Men's and Women's Championships take place Friday-Sunday, April 20-22. Game times are to be determined at a later date.
