FGCU's Popadinova and Weck Sweep Weekly Women's @ASUNSoccer Honors



ATLANTA, Ga. -
 A pair of home victories helped FGCU's Evdokia Popadinova and Melissa Week earn this week's ASUN Conference Women's Soccer honors, announced by the conference office on Monday. Popadinova was named Player of the week for the first time while Weck claimed the fifth Defensive Player of the Week award of her career.


Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Evdokia Popadinova, FGCU
Senior | Forward | Hadzhidimovo, Bulgaria
- First career Player of the Week Award; 25th time an Eagle has won the award
- Totaled seven points this weekend scoring three goals and notching one assist during a pair of victories
- Found the back of the net once and picked up an assist in Friday's 2-1 win over Creighton
- Scored both of the team's goals in the 2-0 shutout over Marshall on Sunday
- Either scored or assisted on all four of FGCU's goals during the week

Women's Soccer Defensive Player the Week
Melissa Weck, FGCU
Senior | Goalkeeper | Yorba Linda, Calif.
- Fifth career Defensive Player of the Week honor; won the award twice last season
- Allowed one goal over the course of two games this weekend with a combined four saves
- Collected her fourth shutout of the season as the team cruised to a 2-0 victory over Marshall while also earning a win in net over Creighton
- Now owns 31.4 career shutouts, the second-most of any goalie in both FGCU and ASUN history
- Ranks fourth in the conference for save percentage (.758) and second in goals-against average (1.07) this season
