NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Top-seeded Lipscomb dealt No. 4 FGCU its first-ever loss in the ASUN Championship as the Defensive Player of the Year Logan McFadden tallied the lone goal of the contest in the 70th minute on a long run that started at midfield. The Bisons will host the ASUN Championship Final on Saturday, Nov. 3rd against conference newcomer No. 6 North Alabama.
The game started with the defending champion FGCU Eagles aggressively attacking the top-seeded Bisons. The Eagles outshot Lipscomb 5-0 in the first half with Marjorie Boilesen and Alyssa Abbondandolo combining for 3 shots on goal. Goalkeeper of the Year Kate Mason kept the Bisons in the game with 3 saves.
Lipscomb attempted their first shot on goal 3 minutes into the second half with Maycie Mckay sending a shot just over the net. Defensive Player of the Year, Logan McFadden, put the Bisons on the board in the 70th minute of play on a long run that started at midfield. The freshman put a shot just past the outstretched hands of FGCU's goalkeeper Melissa Weck to put the Bisons in the scoring column. The Eagles continude to pressure the top-seeded Bisons outshooting Lipscomb 8-4 in the 2nd half. However, the Lipscomb defense held the Eagles scoreless for the second time this season and secured their spot in the ASUN Championship Final next weekend.
