Kennesaw State's Hunt & Liberty's Ellis Claim #ASUNWSOC Weekly Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. - Kennesaw State's Abi Hunt and Liberty's Madison Ellis each played at top form during key matches of ASUN Conference Women's Soccer league play and have been selected as the Weekly Award winners, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Hunt was instrumental in Kennesaw State locking up a spot in the ASUN Championship, anchoring a defensive unit to two-straight shutouts including a 1-0 victory over FGCU for the program's first since 2007. In that victory, the sophomore defender scored the only goal for her first career tally and first career points as well. She backed up that score with excellent defensive play, limiting the Eagles to just three shots on goal of the 16 they attempted. This came off the heels of a 2-0 victory at Stetson where the Owls limited Stetson to only two shots on goal after building a 2-0 lead in the first half. This marks Hunt's first career ASUN weekly award and the second Player of the Week honor for Kennesaw State following Erin Harris' win on September 10th.

Ellis was another defensive mastermind this weekend as she helped Liberty to its first-ever victories in ASUN play. She began with an assist on the game-winning-goal at North Alabama in a battle of the ASUN's newest members, eventually leading her team to a 2-0 victory for the Flames' first shutout of the year in conference action. The freshman from Texas followed that up with two more assists at Lipscomb, including the overtime winner from Gabby Farrell to give Liberty six points in the league table. This came after Ellis sent in a free kick that resulted in an own goal for Lipscomb to tie the game up at 1-1 before halftime. The first ASUN Women's Soccer honor for Liberty in its program history, Ellis now looks to continue a late playoff push for one of the newest teams to the conference.
