#ASUNWSOC Preseason All-Conference Team Announced; FGCU Tabbed No. 1

LakePoint, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced the 2018 Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Awards on Monday afternoon as voted on by the nine league head coaches.

FGCU enters the season as the conference favorite to claim its ninth-straight ASUN Regular Season title. The Eagles racked up eight first-place votes, with a total of 80 points, while the coaches predicted Lipscomb to finish in second place with 72 points. Last season, the Eagles and Bisons shared the Regular Season title with identical 5-1-1 league records.

Jim Blankenships's squad swept through the preseason individual honors with Marjorie Boilesen (Preseason Player of The Year), Lindsey Patton (Preseason Defensive Player of The Year) and Melissa Weck (Preseason Goalkeeper of The Year).

2018 ASUN Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Team
Melissa Weck, Jr., FGCU – The 2017 ASUN Conference Goalkeeper of The Year and United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Southeast Region honoree, Weck looks to repeat her accomplishments entering her third season in Fort Myers. She led the ASUN with nine shutouts as well as giving up just 14 goals in 19 contests.

Lindsey Patton, Jr., FGCU – A 2017 ASUN First Team All-Conference member, Patton played all but 29 minutes for the Eagles. She was a huge part of limiting foes to just 14 total goals on the year.
Justis Bailey, Sr., Lipscomb – Bailey was a Second Team All-Conference honoree in 2017 while leading the Bisons' stingy defense. She also contributed to the scoring front with one goal and an assist.
Greta Watkins, Jr., Stetson – Another Second Team All-Conference member, Watkins was a big contributor on the offensive side with a goal and three assists while anchoring the Hatters' back line.

Holly Fritz, Sr., FGCU – Entering her second season with FGCU, Fritz looks to build off a season in which she was awarded a spot on the All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team. She finished with 10 assists on the year, placing her in the top-10 of the national rankings.
Maycie McKay, Jr., Lipscomb – Returning off a redshirt season, McKay looks to regain the form which landed her Freshman of The Year honors in 2015. With 10 goals in two seasons, she adds depth to an already potent Bisons' attack.
Thais Reiss, So., North Florida – The reigning Freshman of The Year, Reiss took the league by storm and netted six goals including three game-winners. Her totals already rank in the top-10 of North Florida Division I record books.
Florencia Baldassini, Jr., Stetson  A rising junior, Baldassini appeared on the ASUN Second Team in 2017. She has become a focal point of the offense with 10 points in her first two seasons including three goals.

Marjorie Boilesen, Jr., FGCU  The 2018 Preseason Player of The Year, the Brazilian native was also a First Team member last year after leading the conference in goals (11) and points (31). She was also named to the All-Southeast First Team and the TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Top 100.
Olivia Doak, Jr., Lipscomb  Doak continues to stack honors in her career as she enters her third season. The 2016 Freshman of The Year, she has now made back-to-back appearances on the Preseason All-Conference squad. 
Lindsey Parent, Jr., Stetson – An All-Freshman Team member in 2016 who rose to the Second Team All-Conference in 2017, Parent looks to continue her climb to be one of the best forwards in the ASUN. She was a big scorer for the Hatters with four goals in 16 games.

For the seventh-straight year, the ASUN took to social media to poll the fans for the conference preseason superlative awards. In total, 3,289 votes were cast as Stetson's Lindsey Parent collected the Facebook Fan-Voted Preseason Player of the Year accolade with 222 votes, while Jacksonville's Brittany Hundley earned both the Facebook Fan-Voted Preseason Defensive Player & Goalkeeper of the Year with 375 votes.
