ATLANTA, Ga. - The 2019 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship kicked off on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Coastal Carolina with two semifinal games.

Top-seeded Jacksonville opened the tournament when they face No. 4 Kennesaw State. Jacksonville registered a dominant victory against No. 4 Kennesaw State with a final score of 24-8. Jenny Kinsey, Alyssa Arnold and McKenna Rushford all notched their 100th career point in the victory.  ASUN Player of the Year, Siena Gore, also finished the season with 70 goals for the second-straight season.

In the second game, No. 2 Liberty played the three seed and host, Coastal Carolina.  The Flames upended the Chanticleers 18-8. The win clinches Liberty's second-ever appearance in a conference championship, with their last coming in 2015 as members of the Big South Conference.

Jacksonville started off the championship final fast, as they went up 8-3 on Liberty midway through the first half. Goals from Alyssa Arnold and Lillie Miller helped pad the lead for JU before taking a commanding 14-6 lead into the locker room. The second half was a different story, as Liberty came out on fire. The Flames netted a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the second half to close the gap to 14-8. After the Dolphins responded to make it 17-10, the Flames went on a scoring spree, as they scored seven of the next eight goals to cut the lead to 18-17. Two-time champion Dolphins would survive the threat to collect their third consecutive championship with a final score 20 to 18.

The Jacksonville Dolphins will represent the ASUN in the NCAA tournament.  Catch the selection show tonight at 8 PM at www.ncaa.com.
