JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a battle of the unbeatens in the ASUN Conference, the Jacksonville University women's lacrosse team came away with an impressive 19-6 win over Liberty as six Dolphins recorded three or more points, Sunday afternoon at D.B. Milne Field. Sophomore Megan Prescott had a career day with eight draw controls and five points (4 goals, 1 assist), while redshirt-junior Erin McGuire led the Dolphins behind a six-point performance (2g, 4a).

"Our goal was to play a complete 60-minute game. To assist 13 of our 19 goals, have nine players score, cause 20 turnovers, and win possession (17 to 10) on the draw controls today showed a total team win. I am proud of the team's effort to rebound from a tough loss against Florida and come out and run and gun today," commented head coach Mindy McCord following the win.

"Megan Prescott was our player of the game; as a second line midfielder to play that dominant was huge for us. We played with a lot of poise. I am so thankful to all of our seniors and their families for their commitment, care, and leadership to our program. Our assistant Britt Orashen deserves much of the credit. Our draw, rise and clear game were strong today. Those are also the strengths of Liberty. She coached well and had the team prepared in just two days. Liberty had 12 days off to prep for us. They are a well coached team; it underscores the time Britt put in."

As a team, the Dolphins (11-3, 4-0 ASUN) held an impressive 41-18 advantage in shots, with 20 in the first half and 21 in the second, forcing Flames goalie Katherine Widrick into 11 saves, including eight in the second half.

The Dolphins trailed three times in the first 10 minutes of the game, before peppering eight unanswered goals before halftime. Prescott recorded back-to-back tallies to give JU its first lead of the game at 23:06, but the Flames (11-3, 3-1 ASUN) added their own two-goal run to regain the lead. Jacksonville allowed just one final goal from the visitors in the half as Kayla Foster gave Liberty a 4-3 advantage with 19:17 showing.

From there, it was all Dolphins as the hosts held the Flames scoreless for over a third of the game (41:46) with an 11-0 run through the second half. Three players recorded back-to-back goals, beginning with senior captain Lillie Miller (16:28, 15:34) and graduate student Hayley Ciklin (6:47, 6:02) in the first half before sophomore Lauren Phillips (25:17, 24:16) closed out the run. McGuire also posted back-to-back tallies at the end of the game at 7:23 and 3:04 for the final 19-6 score.

"We had a great second half against Florida and that level of play carried over into the game today," added Associate Head Coach Paul McCord. "The team came together after a long week and they were amazing."

Miller finished the day with two goals, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers; Ciklin added a three-point performance (2g, 1a) with one ground ball and two caused turnovers; and Phillips added a career-high four goals with two ground balls.

Sophomores Jenny Kinsey (2g, 1a) and Alyssa Arnold (1g, 2a) combined for six points, as Kinsey picked up three ground balls and had a career-high four caused turnovers.

Between the pipes, freshman Dayna Martinetto picked up five saves – all in the second half for her 11th win of the season.

The Dolphins close out the regular season with a three-game road swing before the ASUN Tournament on May 2 and 4 in Conway, S.C. Beginning next week, JU heads north to Kennesaw State (April 18 – 4 pm) and Mercer (April 20 - noon), then head down to DeLand to take on Stetson (April 28 – 2 pm) for the regular season finale.
