Coastal Carolina Defeats Stetson in Sunday #ASUNWLax Action

Deland, Fla. – Madeline Bromley and Lyla Robinson led the Coastal Carolina offensive attack in the 18-11 ASUN women's lacrosse conference win over Stetson in Deland, Fla. on Sunday afternoon.

The win improved the Chanticleers record to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action while the Hatters fell to 2-9 on the season and 1-2 in ASUN play with the loss.
 
Bromley tallied seven points on four goals and three assists followed by Robinson with three goals for the hat-trick on the offensive end.
 
Defensively Harley Barrett and Regan McComb combined for seven saves on the day while Emily D'Orsaneo forced three turnovers and scooped five ground balls.
 
Stetson opened the scoring in the opening stanza when Marina Rotella found the back of the net on a free-position attempt with 20:29 on the game clock.
 
Haley Alexander (two goals and two assists), who entered the game needing five points to reach the 200 career points plateau, scored the first CCU goal to even the match at 1-1 with her own free-position goal 55 seconds later.
 
Jacklyn Lavoie of the Hatters got the lead back for SU off the assist by Riley Reagan with 12:39 remaining until the intermission.
 
The Chanticleers over the next 6:10 fired off seven unanswered goals. Alexander started the run with an unassisted goal with 12:04 remaining until halftime. Bromley (11:41 & 8:54) and Robinson (10:23 & 7:41) traded the next four goals for the 6-2 lead. Carlie Doughty made it 7-2 on an unassisted goal followed by Lauren Cremen grabbing an errant pass in front of the cage and beating the goalkeeper to close out the 7-0 Coastal run.
 
Stetson's Hannah Mill closed out the first half scoring to close the margin to 8-4 with two goals in 30 seconds.
 
Bromley (28:17) opened the second period with her hat-trick goal on a free-position attempt to push the CCU lead to 9-4 while Samantha Courtemanche (25:48) tallied her first goal of the day to give Coastal a six-goal lead at 10-4.
 
Stetson scored three unanswered between 22:22 and 19:42 to pull within three off of goals by Reagan (22:22 & 19:42) and Rotella (20:50) to make it 10-7 in favor of the Chanticleers.
 
Cremen scored her second goal of the day to stop the Hatters offensive surge to push the lead to 11-7 with 18:26 remaining to play.
 
Stetson's Quinn Roe picked up her first tally off the Reagan assist in making it 11-8 with 13:40 on the game clock.
 
The Chants then fired off three goals to add to is lead. Bromley connected on her fourth goal of the match off an Alexander assist to make it 12-8. Jordan Harrell scored with a woman-up opportunity with 9:47 to make it 13-8 while Bailey O'Brienfound the back of the net off of the Alexander assist with 7:23 making it 14-8.
 
Lavoie (6:59), Mill (2:10) and Rotella (0:38) closed out the scoring for the home-standing Hatters over the final seven minutes of play.
 
Robinson (4:48), Courtemanche (2:45), Harrell (1:32) and Avery Drouin (0:02) finished out the scoring for the final tally of 18-11.
 
The Chanticleers will return to action for the Friday, April 12, as they will host former ASUN member Mercer with the opening draw scheduled for 4:00 p.m. inside Brooks Stadium.
