Chanticleers & Dolphins Earn ASUN Wins; ODU & Stetson Get Non-Conf. W's

LakePoint, Ga. - ASUN Conference Women's Lacrosse action continued on Friday as Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville earned league wins. Old Dominion and Stetson picked up victories in non-conference action.

Coastal Carolina road into Kennesaw State on Friday and came out victorious. The Chanticleers jumped out to a huge 8-2 lead in the first half, but Kennesaw State stormed back to tie it right before the half. KSU's Anna Napierala caused a turnover, scooped up the ball and burried in the back of the net to tie it right before the half. CCU would come out swinging in the second half, as they went on a 4-0 run to jump out to a 13-9 lead. The Chanticleers would not look back. They held KSU to just three goals in the second half. CCU's Harlet Barrett was dynamite in net, as she made 15 saves and registered a SV% of 55.5%. Siena Gore led the way with four goals for the Owls. 

Jacksonville jumped all over Howard, as they raced out to a 16-1 lead and took a 16-2 lead into the half. Ashtyn Hiron netted four goals, while also collecting two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Emily Wisdom also scored a season-high four goals. Erin McGuire tallied six points for the Dolphins with a goal and five assists. With the win JU stays atop the ASUN standings. 

Old Dominion played perhaps the most exciting game of the night. ODU jumped out to a 8-4 lead in the first half, but Mercer would quickly come back. The two squads went back and forth in the second half, trading goals. Glory Johnson was the player of the game for ODU, as she notched five goals, including the game winner with 1:50 left in the game. Johnson also tallied four ground balls. ODU has now four of their last five games.

Like Jacksonville, Stetson jumped all over Delaware State. The Hatters scored eight goals within the first 10 minutes, and took a 14-1 lead into the half. Maddie Holvey scored all three of her goals in the first half to lead the Hatters. Hallie Merz also had a big game for Stetson. She notched seven points with a goal and six assists. Stetson will return to action on Sunday when they take on Howard.
