LakePoint, Ga. - Jacksonville kicked off the 2018 season on Sunday as they took down Big Ten foe, Michigan, 14-9. Kennesaw State and Stetson both fell on Sunday by scores of 18-14 and 15-13.

ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Ashtyn Hiron led the way for the Dolphins in their victory over Michigan. The Austalia-native netted five goals, including three in a row in the first half, which broke a tie and seperated JU from the Wolverines for good. Hiron also chipped in with two assists for a total of seven points. Freshman Jenny Kinsey chipped in with three goals of her own. Sarah Elms and Erin McGuire also scored two goals a piece. JU was a perfect 15-15 on clears and was 4-9 on free positions. The Dolphins also had a 15-9 advantage on draw controls. The win marked JU's second all-time win over a Big Ten opponent and second against Michigan. Jacksonville returns to action next Saturday when they host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Kennesaw State fell to Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Sienna Gore tallied four goals for the Owls. Stetson staged a furious comeback against Arizona State, but fell just short, 15-13. Shelby Lehmann netted five goals. Taylor Patrizi and Karli McGuire scored two goals a piece.
The Hatters and Owls will be back in action next week. KSU will travel to Milwaukee to take on Marquette, while Stetson hosts Notre Dame.
