Kennesaw State's Caldwell Qualifies for 2018 US Women's Amateur

LakePoint, Ga. - Kennesaw State women's golfer Madison Caldwell qualified for the 2018 US Women's Amateur on Friday afternoon.

"What an incredible summer Madison continues to have," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "This will be back-to-back years she has qualified for the USGA Amateur, the most prestigious amateur tournament in the world. She works tirelessly to achieve her goals and this is another check off her list!"

Caldwell posted a 3-under par 69 at the US Women's Amateur Sectional Qualifier at Monroe Country Club in Monroe, N.C. Caldwell rolled in four birdies and 13 pars during her round to finish tied for s second overall. This will be Caldwell's second consecutive trip to the US Amateur.

The Milton, Ga. native played in all 12 of the teams events and led the team with a 73.47 scoring average. The rising senior was named ASUN Player of the Year and won the ASUN Championship individual title with rounds of 76-69 for a 1-over par total of 145.

The 2018 US Women's Amateur will take place August 6-12 at The Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn.
