FGCU Pair, NJIT's Guarino Take Home #ASUNWBB Weekly Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. -  FGCU's pair of Tanner Bryant and Davion Wingate and NJIT's Kelly Guarino had excellent showings on the court over the weekend and have been recognized as ASUN Conference Women's Basketball weekly award winners, announced by the league office on Monday.

Guarino earns her first career ASUN Player of the Week award and the first for NJIT as a program since the 2016-17 season when Alana Dudley claimed the honor. The senior produced one of the best games in her career, scoring a career-best 28 points against Colgate while tying her career-high with seven three-pointers made in the game. Helping to notch the second-straight road win for NJIT to move up the ASUN standings, Guarino is beginning to climb up individual standings as she draws near to career records for both the Highlanders and the ASUN. Currently sitting at 216 made three-pointers, the New York native needs just four more to tie for 10th place in ASUN history and six to break the NJIT all-time mark of which she already owns the Division I record.

The pair of Bryant and Wingate helped FGCU to a rout of Johnson & Wales (Fla.) at home, setting the program Division I record for points in a game at 109. Newcomer of the Week, Wingate set a career-high with 28 points in just 24 minutes off the bench. She also set career marks for field goals made (11) and tied her best career efforts with three three pointers and four steals in the game. Bryant claims the Freshman of the Week honor for the first time in her career and first time for FGCU in the program's history. She set a career-high with 16 points against JWU, also securing seven rebounds in the contest. Her third double-digit output of the season, the Ohio native has averaged 12.3 PPG in those contests, helping to raise her overall season average to 6.0.
