Hatters Season To Continue in the WBI

DeLand, Fla. – For the eighth consecutive year, the Stetson women's basketball team will play in the postseason.  The Hatters (17-14) will visit South Alabama (19-12) on Thursday, March 15 at 8 p.m. ET in the opening round of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI), it was announced late Monday night. 

This will be second time the Hatters have participated in the Postseason WBI.  In 2016, Stetson defeated McNeese State at home before falling to Louisiana on the road.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the second round to meet the winner of the Furman at UNC Asheville game, which will also be played on Thursday.

Stetson is 17-14 overall and finished third in the ASUN after going 8-6 in league play.  

South Alabama is 19-12 overall having won four of their last six games.  The Jaguars went 11-7 in the Sun Belt Conference and 1-1 in the SBC tournament. 

Thursday will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the two schools, and the first meeting in 10 seasons.  The Jaguars lead the series 5-0.

The WBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament that culminates with the championship game on March 28 or 29.  All games are played at campus sites.
