ATLANTA, Ga. – Lizzie Shubert hit a three-run home run and Tori Perkins picked up win No. 8 as Stetson defeated Princeton 7-1 Tuesday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

The second game of the doubleheader was halted in the first inning due to rain and will not be made up.  Stetson was leading 5-0.

In game one, the Hatters (9-16) pounded out 11 hits, their highest output since March 3rd.  Shubert went 2-for-3 with a three-run blast to center in the bottom of the third inning to give Stetson a 4-1 lead.  Stetson added a pair of runs in the fourth and one in sixth.

Kasey Fava and Riley Russell each collected two hits and scored two runs.  Elizabeth Jackson joined the hit parade with a pair of knocks, while Ashly SmithAmanda Nikhazy and Molly McLaughlin each drove in a run.

"We did a good job of hitting with runners in scoring position, which is something we haven't been doing," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said.  "I was encouraged that after being off for two days we were able to come out and hit the ball.  Their pitcher was doing a good job, we were just able to hit her."

For the Hatters, Perkins (8-5) threw just 68 pitches in the complete-game effort. She walked none, struck out four, and allowed just one unearned run.

It was Stetson's final non-conference game before the start of ASUN play this weekend.

"I think scoring some runs today will give us some confidence going into conference," Griffin said.

Stetson will visit Jacksonville for a three-game series beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
