ATLANTA, Ga. – Five ASUN teams notch wins in mid-week action as conference play draws closer. Liberty improves on their home winning streak while Stetson, North Florida, Lipscomb and Jacksonville all collect victories in Wednesday play.
Liberty used a three-run third inning to gain a lead, and Chase Cassady allowed just one hit in a 4-1 home win over Pitt, Wednesday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. The Flames are now 10-0 at home this season and have won 28 straight home games, dating back to March 10, 2018. That is the second-longest active home winning streak in NCAA Division I softball, trailing only Oklahoma's 41 games. Liberty opens its inaugural season in the ASUN Conference with a three-game conference series at defending ASUN champion Kennesaw State, Friday and Saturday in Kennesaw, Ga.
Blake Crews scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Stetson defeated UMass 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday. Tori Perkins pitched a complete game in the opener to improve to 7-4 on the season. She allowed just five hits and one earned run while striking out two over nine innings of work. Ashly Smith drove in the game's first run with an infield single in the bottom of the fifth. Stetson will host UCF on Saturday for a 2 PM ET doubleheader.

North Florida got on the scoreboard first when Paige Pfent sent a single to shallow right-center to bring in the Dominica Cocuzza. Makenzie Griffin singled up the middle for the second run of the inning to give the Ospreys the 2-0 advantage before Cocuzza and Veronika Klimplova would add home runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Ospreys next partake in the USF-Michelle Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational with games against Army and Buffalo on Friday.
Lipscomb beat Western Kentucky 9-7 Wednesday afternoon at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. The Bisons were outhit 11 to four and made two errors to Western Kentucky's one. However, Lipscomb drew nine walks and timely hitting proved to be the difference in the contest. Jordan Fortel hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Jenna Pealor hit a triple to right center in the third inning to score three more runs. Hannah DeVault would later blast a grand slam over the left field fence for what proved to be the deciding runs. Lipscomb plays back-to-back games Friday night with Illinois-Chicago beginning at 4:30 PT CT.
Jacksonville played two games against USC Upstate Wednesday evening. After letting the first game slip, the Dolphins pulled off a come-from-behind victory in the second game to make it five wins over the past six days.
