LakePoint, Ga. - Sunday ASUN Softball action closed out with a pair of wins in Lipscomb and Kennesaw State. With the Owls' victory over FGCU they claim a spot in the 2018 ASUN Softball Championship. USC Upstate also clinches a spot as well.
Lipscomb started off the day taking the series from North Florida with a 10-3 victory. The Bisons came back from a 3-0 deficit in the first inning to tie up the game 3-3 when Hannah DeVault hit a homer to left field. Shortly after, sophomore Peyton Ward tripled down the left field line to bring in two more runs. For the third time in the weekend series and the second time in the game, DeVault blasted another homer out of the park giving Lipscomb a 9-3 lead. Sophomore Chloe Yeager pitched her second straight complete game for the Bisons, extending her unbeaten streak as a starter and improving to 6-1 overall.
Kennesaw State clinched a spot in the ASUN Championship with a 6-0 shutout win over FGCU on Sunday. The Owls took the series as Kira Czyrklis hit a homer and brought in four runs on the day to help Kennesaw State improve to 10-2 in league play. Junior pitcher Alley Cutting grabbed her 11th win on the season, while striking out five batters and allowing six hits. The Owls are back in action against Georgia State Wednesday, Apr. 18.
