Liberty's Kirwa Highlights ASUN Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team

2018 ASUN Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team

ATLANTA, Ga. - Liberty's Azaria Kirwa followed up his victory at the 2018 ASUN Conference Men's Cross Country Championship by being tabbed the Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced Wednesday by the league office. Kirwa becomes the first Flames Men's Cross Country runner to win the award.

With a 3.38 cumulative GPA as a Nursing Major, Kirwa highlights the seven-person ASUN All-Academic Team. Kirwa claimed the ASUN Runner of the Year honors with a first-place finish, 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up. His victory marked the first individual title for a Flames' men's runner in the program's debut in the ASUN Conference.

The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's events.
