KSU's Gray & Dorsey To Compete At 2017 USATF Outdoor Championships

Jordan Gray and Andre Dorsey will compete with the best track and field athletes in the country in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium June, 24-25. Dorsey and Gray will need to place in the top three in their event to qualify for the IAAF World Championships, August 5-13 in London, England.

Gray will compete in the finals of the heptathlon on June 24-25.  To be accepted for the finals in the heptathlon at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, athletes must have a heptathlon score that ranks in the top 18 nationally and took place between January 1, 2016 – June 18, 2017. Gray qualified for the finals after winning the heptathlon at the ASUN Championships scoring an ASUN Outdoor Championship meet and KSU school record 5641 points. Her point total was 16th-best in the United States and 14th-best in the NCAA this season. The sophomore won all seven events in the heptathlon at the ASUN Championships. She set the heptathlon school, and ASUN Outdoor Championships heptathlon records in the shot put 12.94m (42'2.5) and javelin throw 39.02m (128'0).The Ball Ground, Georgia native set a school heptathlon record in the long jump with a leap of 6.11m (20'0.5). She has competed in four heptathlons this season and has won two and finished second and seventh in the other two. She is coming off earning a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon final at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon where she scored 5621 points on June 10-11.

Dorsey will be competing in the finals of the long jump on June 25. To be accepted for the finals in the long jump at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, athletes must have a jump that ranks in the top 18 nationally and took place between July 1, 2016 – June 18, 2017. Dorsey qualified for the finals after landing a jump of 7.94m (26'0.75) at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial Meet in Athens, Georgia on May 6. Dorsey turned professional in the summer of 2016 upon completion of his storied Kennesaw State career. He competed in some in and outdoor meets this season in the long jump and triple jump.  

The 2017 USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be shown at the following times:
