LakePoint, Ga. - Ten ASUN Conference Men's Track and Field athletes will be heading to Lexington, Kentucky for the NCAA East Preliminaries this weekend. The conference will be represented in eight events overall, with three athletes competing in both the pole vault and 110m hurdles.
Kennesaw State's Dayo Akindele will compete in three different events, while three different Owl men compete in the pole vault. Tyler Stahl and Fynn Timm will represent North Florida, with Juan Gonzalez and Wayne Newman running for the Bisons.
The NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington, Kentucky invites the top-48 individual athletes and top-24 relay teams in the region for each event. Only the best 12 individual athletes and relay teams will move on to this year's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon. Those athletes will join Kennesaw State's Joshua Mulder, whose score of 7320 in the Virginia Challenge Decathlon ranks 14th in the East and automatically qualifies him for the 2017 finals.
All three days of this weekend's action will be broadcast on ESPN3, with men's field events starting at 12:00 PM on Thursday May 25th.
