No. 1 North Florida Grabs Second-Ever #ASUNMTEN Championship Title

No. 1 North Florida defeated No. 2 Stetson on Sunday 4-1 to earn its second-ever ASUN Championship title in program history after previously winning in 2016. Lasse Muscheites grabbed the ASUN Tournament MVP clinching the match for the Ospreys at No. 2 singles in the third set. 

The day started with North Florida dominating in No. 2 doubles as Sahil Deshmukh/Till Von Winning defeated Malik Bhatnagar/Agnus Bradshaw 6-1. Then in the No. 3 spot Stetson's Loic Blanco/Antione Sanchez took down Ospreys' duo Nilo Duarte/Alberto De Meo 6-3 to tie it 1-1. It came down to the No. 1 spot where Muscheites/Jefta Kecic battled it out against Hatters' tandem Linus Bergevi/Colter DeCoste, but the Ospreys clinched the doubles point winning 7-5. 

In singles action, North Florida's Duarte put the Ospreys ahead 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Linus Bergevi in the No. 5 spot. Shortly after, ASUN Freshman of the Year, Stetson's Bhatnagar defeated Kecic in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 making it a 2-1 match. The Ospreys once again pulled ahead when Deshmukh won in three sets on Court #3 against Stetson's Antoine Sanchez. The match was clinched by Muscheites in the No. 2 spot as he downed Loic Blanco 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. 

North Florida enters the NCAA Tournament 13-9 and going undefeated in conference play. The Ospreys find out who they will face on May 1, while the first and second rounds begin May 11.
