NCAA Release

ATLANTA, Ga. - The NCAA Men's Golf Regional teams were announced Wednesday night on the Golf Channel and two ASUN Conference Men's Golf teams heard their names called. 2019 ASUN Men's Golf Champions, North Florida earned the No. 3 seed in the Louisville Regional, while conference newcomer Liberty is headed to the Athens Regional as the No. 4 seed. It marks the 12th consecutive season that multiple ASUN men's golf teams were selected to the NCAA Regionals. Meanwhile, Jacksonville's Eduardo Carrete received an individual at-large selection and will join the Flames squad in Athens.

The NCAA Regionals will take place May 12-15 with three regionals hosting 13 teams and three regionals hosting 14 teams. From the 81-teams selected to participate in the NCAA Regionals this season, 30 will advance to the NCAA Championships on May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The top-five teams from each regional site will advance, while the top individual from a non-advancing team also moves on to the NCAA Championship.

North Florida, the 13th-ranked team in the nation by Golfstat, earned the highest seeding of any ASUN squad as the Ospreys will be the No. 3 seed in the Louisville Regional. The Ospreys are coming off a win at the 2019 ASUN Championship, the sixth title in the program's history. It marks the 10th-straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals for North Florida. The Ospreys qualified for the NCAA Championships a year ago, where they finished 28th, after placing in a tie for second at the Norman Regional and are led by Golfer of the Year Philip Knowles, ASUN Championship Individual Medalist Jordan Batchelor and First Team honoree Travis Trace.

After finishing runner-up at the 2019 ASUN Conference Championship, Liberty earned an at-large berth as the No. 4 seed in the Athens Regional. The Flames are ranked 22nd in the nation by Golfstat and will be making their 10th NCAA Regional appearance and first as an ASUN member. Ervin Chang, the No. 31 rated individual by Golfstat, was a First Team All-Conference selection and leads the Liberty squad with a 72.60 stroke average on the year. All-Tournament Team honorees Gabe Lench and Kieran Vincent round out the Flames' top three golfers this season.

Jacksonville's Eduardo Carrete will compete as an individual after placing in a tie for seventh at the 2019 ASUN Championship. The junior was named to the All-Conference First Team following a regular season that saw him lead the Dolphins with a stroke average of 72.12 to go with five top-10 finishes and a runner-up effort at the Sea Best Invitational. He posted a low round of 64 on two occasions and earned ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week once. He looks to become the third ASUN men's golf individual to qualify for the NCAA Championship, joining Rhys Enoch (ETSU, 2010) and Travis Trace (UNF, 2017).
