BRASELTON, Ga. - Three squads finished under par for the day at the 2019 ASUN Conference Men's Golf Championship with Liberty, North Alabama & North Florida posting red numbers. The Ospreys extended their advantage to 12 strokes with a five-under team total of 283, while the Lions (285; -3) and Flames (287; -1) followed with the next best scores of the day.
Jordan Batchelor garnered complete control of the leaderboard with a stunning back-nine in which the River City senior finished seven-under par over his final six holes after posting a quadruple bogey on No. 11. He sits four clear of second place with a two-round total of 138 (-6) after his score of 68 on Monday.
Three of Batchelor's teammates sit in the top-10 with Philip Knowles (5th; E), Andrew Alligood (T8th; +3) and Cody Carroll (T10th; +4). Alligood tied for the second-best score of the day with a three-under 69 highlighted by an eagle on No. 5. Knowles carded a two-over par 74, while Carroll fired an even par 72.
Liberty improved its score by 10 strokes from its opening round to remain in second place, 12 strokes behind UNF. Gabe Lench and Jonathan Yaun both finished under par for the day with 69 & 71, respectively. Lench jumped up to fourth place, while teammates Kieran Vincent (T6th; +2) & Alexandre Fuchs (T8th; +3) remain in the top-10 of the individual leaderboard.
Kennesaw State and Jacksonville remained steady in third and fourth with top rounds coming from KSU's Connor Coffee (72) and JU's Thomas Thurloway (72). Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres is tied for sixth place heading into the final round, while Thurloway sits four back from the leader tied for second.
North Alabama jumped two teams with its three-under team score on Monday as three individuals fired red numbers including Payton Massey (70; -2), Aaron Jackson (71; -1) and Jackson Wedgeworth (71; -1). Wedgeworth leads the Lions on the individual side as he sits tied for 12th at five-over par.
FGCU, Lipscomb and Stetson hold the final three spots on the team leaderboard. All three teams improved on their opening round scores with the Eagles carding a 14-shot improvement and the Hatters jumping up by 11. Lipscomb's Paul Swindell is tied with JU's Thurloway for second place after the sophomore registered a three-under 69, featuring five birdies on his card.
The 41st edition of the ASUN Men's Golf Championship wraps up on Tuesday with the final round starting at 8 AM ET off the first tee at The Legends Course. The final pairing of Batchelor, Lench & Torres begin their rounds at 10:15 AM ET.
